The Bench Press offers the opportunity to strengthen and enhance your physique, and its compact design is a major advantage for home use. It takes up minimal space and can easily be stored in your closet. Having a bench at home not only saves time by eliminating the need to go to the gym, but also saves money on gym memberships. This versatile piece of equipment allows for exercises that target muscles in the abdomen, back, legs, arms, and chest. To optimize your body training, it is important to create a workout program and plan that targets various muscle groups. Additionally, proper nutrition should not be overlooked, as it plays a crucial role in improving overall body composition.

  • Adjustable bench press with movable backrest for customizable exercise modes.
  • Roman chair for core strengthening.
  • Incline bench press with curved backrest for added support.

INTRODUCTION. The majority of these workouts can be completed using a standard bench press and a wall-mounted buffet, with the wall serving as a training aid for the body.

Before starting the construction of a simulator, it is crucial to make a decision on the materials to be used, either iron or wood. Additionally, it is necessary to obtain the required tools and materials:

  1. Welding machine (including all necessary accessories).
  2. Electrodes.
  3. Welding mask.
  4. Angle grinder.
  5. Pliers.
  6. Drill.
  7. Hand saw.
  8. Pencil (for marking).

IMPORTANT: All work must be conducted in a designated and prepared area to prevent fire and injuries. When using a bolt cutter, wear protective goggles to prevent iron shavings from causing eye damage. Welding activities must be performed while wearing appropriate protective clothing.

NOTE: A metal angle measuring at least 30 mm in width and 2 mm in thickness can be utilized in constructing the frame. Additionally, a 50*70 mm wooden bar is suitable for the purpose. The dimensions of the structure are contingent on the density of the training equipment and body composition.

Ordinary bench for the press

To construct it, we will utilize square pipes measuring 70*30 mm with a wall thickness of 2 mm, along with circular pipes with a diameter of 20 mm and a minimal wall thickness of 1 mm. It is preferable to utilize pipes with thick walls.

Divide the pipes into individual parts:

  • 1 segment of 120 cm square pipe;
  • 1 segment of 40 cm round pipe.

These components will provide stability to the frame. Join them together by welding with a T-joint. This will serve as the foundation.

Next, we will create a secondary support and connect them:

  • 1 segment of 70 cm square pipe;
  • 1 segment of 40 cm round pipe.

Join these sections together by welding with a T-joint. This assembly is known as the simulator leg. We now have two T-shaped structures. Connect these supports by welding the legs of the T structure at a 90-degree angle.

Firstly, we assemble a support structure for the simulator seat using 4 square tubes, each measuring 10 cm.

We securely attach these tubes to the sides of the base, with one pair placed 30 cm from the connection point with the leg, and the other pair placed 70 cm away. We also create holes with a diameter of 8-10 mm on the mounting area, located 5 cm above the base, which will be used to fix the seat.

Next, let’s construct a leg rest by connecting 4 round tubes, each measuring 20 cm.

These tubes are welded to the leg of the frame, with 2 of them placed at the junction of the leg and the base to provide knee support, and the remaining 2 positioned 10-30 cm above the T-joint to serve as a rest for the lower leg. To complete the project, we paint the entire structure in the desired color.

To start, we will construct the chair. We will require a board that is at least 12 mm thick, at least 30 cm wide, and has a length of 70 – 90 cm. For added comfort, we will also need foam and faux leather. Attach the chair to the mount, preferably using bolts and pre-drilling holes in the board. Alternatively, you can use self-tapping screws. Once secure, cover the chair with foam padding and attach the faux leather using a furniture stapler.

Please note: these measurements are not mandatory. Build the simulator according to your body’s dimensions. It is recommended to cover the areas where the knees bend and the leg rest with foam padding for a more comfortable and effective muscle training experience.

This type of simulator is unique because it allows for adjusting the seat’s inclination level. To accomplish this, you will need to create a drawing and gather the necessary materials and tools.

There are various ways to enhance a bench, but we will focus on two methods. The first involves changing the angle of inclination by raising the seat height, while the second involves adjusting the bench leg.

For both approaches, we will require the same materials and tools used in constructing a standard bench. However, we will also need a smaller diameter pipe to enable the adjustment functionality.

IMPORTANT: If you are constructing a simulator using wood or metal angles, please note that you will need to calculate the drawing based on the specific material. The method will differ from the one described above.

We construct the frame for the bench in a traditional manner, but with a modification to the leg size, reducing it to 40 cm, and eliminating the T-joint for the stop. Moving on, we procure a smaller diameter pipe, roughly 25*65 mm, and cut a 50 cm piece.

Using a T-joint, we weld two sections of a round tube, each measuring 20 cm, to the aforementioned piece. This will serve as the height adjuster for the leg. We then proceed to make holes in the leg and the adjuster, with diameters of 10 mm, positioned in the center and spaced 2-3 cm from the end of the leg and with a 5 cm interval in the adjuster. This gives us a total of 9 holes. Finally, we acquire a pin, which will act as the height fixer for the leg. By following this process, we achieve a simulator with a minimum height of 45 cm and a maximum height of 85 cm, suitable for various loads.

Changing the angle by raising the backrest of the simulator

In order to make the design more up-to-date, instead of replacing the leg like in the previous scenario, we will now have to update the backrest by changing the frame. To achieve this, we will need to attach a 10 cm long section of 30*70 pipe to the base, in place of the T-joint. Similarly to the previous case, we will need to drill a hole in the welded piece and secure the structure using a lock.

Buffet wall as an exercise machine for the abs

If there is already a Swedish wall available at home, there is no need to invest in complex exercise equipment. You can utilize the wall as a substitute for the bench frame. However, it is important to construct a backrest for support during workouts, as well as a wall mount. To accomplish this, you will require a wooden bar measuring 120 cm in length, a board spanning 30 cm in width, and a length of 70-90 cm. Additionally, two smaller bars measuring 40 cm will also be necessary.

It is imperative to select the appropriate bar size and board thickness based on the individual’s weight to prevent any potential injuries.

Create two T-joints using the smaller bars, placing the longer bar on top of them. One side of the bar will serve as a stop, while the other side will function as a wall fastener. Securely attach the bar in the center of the board to ensure it remains stable during exercise sessions. Finally, add a layer of foam and leatherette to provide comfort and cushioning.
