To create a casing for louvered doors, a wooden frame is utilized, with the option to use the following as slats:
Lightweight interior louvered doors. These doors serve as the foundation of the American style in interior design. Typically, the designs feature non-adjustable or adjustable slats that are fixed within the door frame. Nowadays, it is becoming increasingly common to come across the following types of interior louvered doors:
Wooden doors offer a more visually appealing aesthetic, as the natural wood pattern adds a special coziness to the interior. Plastic alternatives are only distinguishable by their price.

Advantages and disadvantages
Prior to making a decision on the installation of louvered doors in any given room, it is advisable to have a thorough understanding of their advantages and disadvantages inherent in their design. Failing to do so may result in potential disappointment with the purchase, as the door may be installed in an inappropriate location.

An air convection-preventing characteristic is the primary benefit of a shutter door.
Consequently, when a louvred door is closed, the air inside the room will not become stagnant. Rooms with these doors are effectively ventilated. Additionally, the space between the slats allows heat to transfer from one room to another, eliminating the problem of one room being noticeably more humid or warm than the rest.
Other advantages of this type of door include:
- Reduced risk of excessive moisture and swelling. The airflow between the slats carries away excess moisture, resulting in less swelling compared to solid wood doors. In contrast, metal doors are less likely to experience condensation. These factors contribute to a longer lifespan for the door.
- Lighter weight compared to solid doors, resulting in less hardware adjustment being necessary.
From a visual standpoint, the door-blinds are absolutely stunning and bring a sense of openness and luminosity to the space. However, the issue at hand pertains to personal preferences. Individuals who prefer traditional interior design may not be as fond of this particular choice.

Like with many things, the disadvantages of louvered doors are simply an extension of their advantages. Here are some things to consider:
- While the slats create a barrier that hides what’s behind the door, they do not provide soundproofing or prevent odors from escaping. As a result, louvered doors may not be suitable for use in the kitchen and may not provide adequate privacy for the bedroom.
- Louvered doors are not known for their durability and may require more frequent maintenance compared to other door types.
- Due to the intricate construction involved in making louvered doors, they tend to be more expensive than other types of doors. Only solid wood doors made of premium wood can surpass them in terms of cost.
Louvered lamellae doors are an excellent choice for pantries and closets as they allow for good airflow, preventing the buildup of musty air. They are also suitable for installation in technical rooms. Additionally, the use of wooden lamellas can add a decorative touch to any piece of furniture.
Another interesting idea is to install a louvered door in the bathroom. However, it is important to consider both the advantages and disadvantages of this option. On one hand, the door’s ventilation properties can help prevent condensation. On the other hand, it may also result in cold temperatures in the bathroom during winter.
Louvred doors: types, materials
Let’s begin by discussing the materials utilized in the creation of shutter doors. The main component is typically wood, with budget-friendly options such as pine and spruce, while more expensive alternatives are comprised of harder (and pricier) species. There are also options available in plastic and metal. Plastic provides the most cost-effective choice, while still maintaining a high level of practicality.
Plastic louvered doors are not susceptible to moisture damage and do not require painting, making them extremely low maintenance. They can simply be washed clean. This makes them the ideal solution for cabinets in bathrooms or sanitary units. They also work well for closets located on balconies. In general, they are suitable for any area that experiences high humidity and/or requires frequent cleaning.

Metal louvered doors are a component of the household security system.
While metal louvered doors are not commonly found, there are still some available. The use of entrance doors with shutters is infrequent, except for cases like boiler rooms that have access to the outdoors. Therefore, these doors have a very limited range of applications.
In terms of appearance, louvered doors are similar to regular doors:
- hinged;
- sliding;
- folding (accordion or book-style).
They can be composed of one, two, four, or more panels. They are the same as conventional models, except for the difference in the filling.
There are also louvered doors that can be adjusted. In this scenario, the slats can move since they are tied together by a single rod. By gripping the rod, you have the ability to alter the orientation of the louvers – either opening them fully, closing them entirely, or creating small openings.
The main positive and negative qualities of this type of construction
Installation, featuring louvered grilles, is a distinct entity with both advantages and disadvantages. To determine whether it is worth installing blinds on your own, let’s first examine the positive aspects:
1. Efficient air circulation: The spacing between individual slats allows for a good level of ventilation. Additionally, any moisture that enters the room does not accumulate on the structure, thus prolonging its lifespan.
2. Lamellas: A closer look at the slats
There are also drawbacks to installing louvered doors. One prominent issue is that these doors are unable to effectively provide the desired level of sound insulation. This feature is simply non-existent. As a result, their range of application is limited. Another disadvantage is their cost. Because of the complexity in construction, louvered doors tend to be more expensive compared to traditional door panels.
How to choose correctly
The selection of an appropriate model is impacted by various factors:
- Humidity – if it is high, cabinets made of plastic or with fabric doors are suitable;
- Assembly quality – the slats must be level, with no warping, depressions, or bends;
- Fastening reliability – there should be no wobbling or instability;
- Functioning peculiarities of the sliding mechanism – smooth opening indicates its proper operation;
- The material of the guides (for accordion-type doors) – it is preferable for them to be made of aluminum, as these products are known for their durability.
The price of cabinets with louvered doors may vary depending on the materials used, product dimensions, and the chosen type of panels.
However, it is crucial to bear in mind that when making a selection, this particular design may entail a higher initial cost compared to the standard model, so be cautious of cheap alternatives. It is highly likely that they lack the necessary quality and will not withstand the test of time.
Considering the purpose of the cabinet is essential. If it is intended for storing perishable items, it is advisable to opt for dark-colored furniture with minimal gaps between the slats.
On the other hand, if exposure to sunlight and air does not pose a threat to the contents, a white or light-colored version with wider gaps can be chosen to visually lighten the overall appearance.
Louvered doors offer numerous benefits as they facilitate a more efficient utilization of space and provide adequate ventilation.
Nevertheless, in order to ensure the longevity of such a design, it is crucial to carefully select the appropriate material and location. Wood, for instance, is not suitable for areas with high moisture levels, while plastic does not withstand heavy loads.
Furthermore, when making a choice, it is essential to consider the quality of the assembly, fasteners, and fittings. A dependable model is characterized by its stability, convenience, smooth door opening, and, of course, the absence of any defects.

The smooth opening of the mechanism is an indication of its proper functioning.
It is imperative for the slats to be aligned and free from any distortions, depressions, or deflections.

When the room has high humidity, it is advisable to opt for items that are either made of plastic or have fabric doors.
Assembling a closet with blinds
If you have read the previous sections of this article, it indicates that you possess a certain level of expertise in using power tools and have the ability to construct a cabinet with louvered doors using your own hands. As you are aware, the pivotal aspect of this assembly process lies within the doors themselves, specifically the blinds. These blinds can be designed in various ways, including hinged, sliding, or resembling shutters. Regardless of the chosen design, it is crucial that the blinds not only serve as an attractive decorative element, but also provide ventilation for the items stored within the cabinet. This feature proves to be immensely beneficial during unfavorable weather conditions, as it allows for the drying of wet clothes on a hanger inside the cabinet.

Closet
My intention is not to provide instructions on constructing the closet itself, but rather to guide you in creating doors-blinds by hand. However, I will present several diagrams for assembling the closet, which you may reference if necessary. Should you wish to utilize these diagrams, you will need to replace the conventional doors (whether they are blind or mirrored) with door-blinds. Additionally, you have the option of repurposing an old closet by removing its doors and modifying it to suit your needs. However, if you prefer to construct this furniture entirely from scratch, I highly recommend utilizing laminated oriented strand board (OSB) for this purpose.
What you need for work
To complete the work, you will require the following materials:
- Wooden planks and boards:
- Any type of carpenter’s glue or PVA;
- Transparent or stained wood varnish (according to your preference).
For the tools, you will need:
A stationary or handheld circular saw;
A jointer (optional if the thickness of the materials matches the desired parts);
A grinding tool (such as a grinder or a bolgar with appropriate wheels);
Clamps of any kind;
A measuring tape, angle tool, and pencil;
A guide (which you need to create yourself).
Conductor
The blinds are put together in accordance with the blueprints, however, before proceeding, it is necessary to create a guide (template) to ensure that all the slats are aligned symmetrically with each other once installed. The image at the top demonstrates the process of creating the guide, which enables the creation of grooves on both posts simultaneously, resulting in flawless symmetry. Naturally, the stencil holes can be positioned at varying distances from one another, but the underlying concept remains unchanged.
The image depicts the presence of screw holes at the base. This implies that the initial step involves randomly cutting the first two grooves and subsequently inserting screws into these holes. By securing the screws onto the grooves, the successive grooves are then cut until all the racks are completed. Additionally, there are two more screw holes positioned in the center of the conductor, equidistant along its length. These holes serve the purpose of accommodating a necessary spacer, which can be used to widen the struts if required. In cases where the struts come into contact during groove cutting, the lintel can be easily removed from the conductor. It is recommended that the grooves have a length of 30mm and a width of 8mm.
Blinds
- Take a sanded bar measuring 50×50 mm and cut two posts to match the height of the cabinet’s doorway.
- Align the two pieces and create mortises.
- Position the rail against the joists at your discretion, using an angle to cut the two lower slots, but secure the template with a clamp to prevent it from moving.
- Next, insert the rails’ spindles into the carved grooves and continue their selection until you reach the end of the posts.
- Now you’ll need to create slats that are 30 mm wide and 8 mm thick, corresponding to the selected grooves, and with their edges rounded using a grinder or disk cutter.
- Insert the upper and lower slats into the post’s grooves and temporarily tighten them with clamps. You can now measure the crosspieces for the door frame and cut the bar to the desired length.
- Attach these lintels using screws and joinery or PVA glue.
- Now you can begin the assembly process, but first apply carpenter’s glue to all of the grooves and holes for the screws.
- Place the lamellas into the grooves and secure the lintels (both upper and lower) with screws.
- Use clamps to tighten the assembled structure in three locations and let it dry completely for 24 hours.
- Apply the varnish that you have prepared for this purpose and once the doors are dry, you can install them onto the cabinet.

Step-by-step instructions
- A piece of timber measuring 50 x 50 mm is divided into two sections with a length that matches the door’s height.
- Next, the timber is run through a planer and smoothed using a grinder.
- Conductors are then attached to the posts in an alternating pattern, while slots are hand-milled into the future door posts.
- Laths, either custom-made or pre-made, with a width of 30 mm and a thickness equal to the groove’s width (8 mm) are chosen.
- The laths’ longitudinal edges are rounded using a grinder.
- For the transverse elements of the door leaf strapping, the same 50 x 50 mm timber is used. The length of each element is determined by the distance between the frame posts plus two spindle lengths. The ends of these elements are shaped into rounded spindles using a router and saw.
- Using a router, create slots at the bottom and top of the posts to accommodate the horizontal joists of the strapping.
- Insert the laths and cross beam into the grooves of the posts, ensuring a secure fit by applying carpenter’s glue to the spindles.
- Secure the entire structure with clamps or straps to ensure stability.
- After allowing sufficient time for drying and setting, remove the clamps or straps.
- To install hinges on the outer ends of the posts, chisel out grooves according to the desired specifications. If sliding leafs are being utilized, attach the sliding system components to the door frame. For shutter-style fences, install rollers and guide tracks.
- Apply a layer of olifa to protect the wood, followed by a coat of paint. Alternatively, treat the wood with stain and finish with furniture varnish for a different look.

The slats should have a consistent angle of inclination.
In this particular case, the louvered slats are positioned at a 45-degree angle. However, this is not a rigid rule. The angle of inclination for the slats can vary, with a maximum vertical inclination of up to 15 degrees.
Photo report on assembly
Firstly, the profiles are precisely trimmed to the calculated measurements with utmost accuracy. The cutting process is strictly perpendicular, maintaining a perfect 90° angle. Holes are then drilled in the handle profiles for the installation of rollers and fasteners.
The holes are drilled with two different diameters, depending on the size of the purchased fasteners. Generally, the sizes used are 4 mm and 6 mm, or alternatively 6 mm and 10 mm.

How to create holes
To begin, create a single hole at the top of the profile. The center of the hole should be located 7 mm away from the edge of the profile. At the bottom, there should be two holes – the first one should be positioned 7 mm away from the edge, and the second one should be located 42 mm away from the cut of the profile.
Drilling holes in the side profiles
During assembly, start by assembling all the filling parts. If there is a glass or mirror, install the sealing rubber around the perimeter. Simply press it onto the end of the part with your finger. Trim off any excess seal at the edges, and make sure it fits snugly without overlapping onto the next side.
Applying sealant to the mirror
For mirrors, it’s recommended to apply a protective film on the back side. An ordinary self-adhesive film can be used for this purpose. This film will prevent the mirror from shattering into pieces if it breaks.
If the window sash is made of composite material, it is put together using connecting profiles. The filling pieces can be inserted into the profile by applying force. Sometimes, a significant amount of force may be necessary. To install the fillers, you can gently tap the end with the back of your hand or use a rubber mallet.
To insert the filler parts, simply place them into the grooves of the profile and tap on the end.
Once the sash is assembled, the corresponding profiles are installed at the top and bottom following the same method.
The top profile is then mounted.
Next comes the installation of the side profiles and handles. The process is similar to before: you insert the filling into the groove, ensuring it goes all the way to the end without any distortions. Once the frame is assembled, it needs to be secured with fasteners. Begin from the top. Take a fastener and insert it into the pre-drilled hole. If the measurements are accurate, the screw will fit snugly into the groove of the upper crossbar.
If the measurements are correct,
Tighten the connection using a hex wrench. Insert the top rollers between the screw head and the lintel of the profile, then tighten the screw.
Insert the upper rollers.
Perform the same operation on the opposite side. Then, proceed downwards. In this case, the fastener should be placed in the upper hole. Simply tighten it until it is fully secured. Repeat the identical process on the other side.
Mount the fastener from below.
Subsequently, install the lower roller. Place the retaining plate into the groove and press it down.
Mounting the lower roller involves inserting the plate into the profile.
Compress the spring by inserting the roller housing. Place the screw into the hole, ensuring it aligns with the socket, and fasten it using the hexagon tool. You might require a slightly smaller size, which is typically thinner and longer, for this screw.
Compressed the roller and inserted the screw.
There is no need to fully tighten it. Just make sure it goes into the plate about half a centimeter. This screw is then used to adjust the position of the sash – raising or lowering the angle – when installing and adjusting the door’s movement.

Tighteni ng the screw to fix the roller wheel
By pressing on the roller wheel, it will go inside the body and then return back due to the elasticity of the spring. This clever mechanism ensures that the closet door runs smoothly.
Start by screwing the upper guide. It can be attached either to the ceiling or the top of the cabinet. Make sure there is a minimum distance of 100mm from the shelves to avoid the door hitting them or any items hanging on them.
Attach the upper rail using screws.
Insert the springs-bumpers into the grooves on the sides of the bottom rail. These springs will limit the movement of the door. The number of springs should be equal to the number of door leaves, and they should be installed at both ends.
Door stops
Insert the spring stops.
If you don’t have access to a laser level and want to avoid using plumb bobs, one way to install a door is to start by laying down the bottom rail without securing it. Then, you can install one leaf by placing its top rollers at the top and putting the lower rollers in the desired groove. This will connect the door to the upper and lower guide rails.
Once you have the leaf set vertically, the lower guide rail will automatically align as well.
To ensure that the bottom rail stays in place, screw it in securely and make sure the door doesn’t move.
Lastly, apply a fluffy self-adhesive strip called schlegel on the sides. This strip acts as cushioning and protects the door from hitting against the cabinet walls or any other surrounding walls.
For the finishing touch, stick the schlegel strip onto the door.
The doors for the closet compartment have been installed and are now ready for use. You can once again watch the entire process in the video.
Jalousie wooden doors for closets: the peculiarities of installation, advantages and disadvantages

A closet is an essential element in the interior of a country house, city apartment, or office. Whether it’s built-in or stand-alone, made of different materials, or has unique designs, they all share one common detail – the doors.
One option for closet doors is folding wooden doors. These types of doors hold a special place among the various furniture options available. They have numerous advantages, which explains their increasing popularity.
Another popular choice is blinds for doors, which are often used as:
- The front of nightstands, cabinets, and kitchen furniture;
- An interior system;
- An additional component of windows or doors.
The door shutter system is constructed around a robust frame, with slats secured at an angle. When selecting these products, it is crucial to consider the lifting mechanism, which should meet the highest standards of reliability and quality. If the mechanism is of questionable quality, it may result in jerky movements, leading to potential deformation over time.
Various materials can be used for door shutters, including plastic, metal, wood, bamboo, and fabric. Wooden systems are commonly utilized for nightstands and cabinets due to their versatility in design. For instance, if wooden folding doors are to be installed in a closet, they can be coated with transparent paint for a glossy finish or varnish.

This type of embellishment has the ability to enhance the texture and hue of the wooden structure.
In order to achieve the illusion of an expensive wood species, a stain is applied to the wood. Certain homeowners opt for vibrant-colored paint to transform their blinds into a standout element of their interior design.
Advantages and disadvantages
There are several advantages of having folding louvered doors for your closet:
- The design of the blinds allows for a more efficient use of small spaces, particularly in areas like balconies, loggias, or other narrow rooms.
- Installing these blinds is easy and doesn’t require any special preparation, making it suitable for even beginner DIY enthusiasts.
- The wooden folding blinds have small gaps between the slats, allowing for ventilation and preventing moisture buildup. This natural ventilation helps to preserve items and protect against moths.
- Furthermore, the cabinet with folding wooden louvered doors adds a beautiful and tidy touch to any space. The wide range of colors available makes it easy to find a suitable option for your interior.
- Additionally, if used carefully, the louvered doors are known for their exceptional durability.
However, there are some downsides to these products:
- Wooden blinds doors can allow odors and light to enter, which may not be desirable in certain situations.
- Painting the shutters can be difficult as it requires disassembling them first. Each slat then needs to be treated individually, which can be time-consuming.
- The door shutter system is not inexpensive.
Furthermore, a room with louvered doors in a closet will require humidity control. The thin wooden slats of the door leaf are quite sensitive and can become deformed when exposed to excessive moisture.
Fluctuations in temperature have the potential to have a negative impact on the door mechanism as well. When temperature fluctuations occur frequently, they can affect the coating of the door, causing the lacquer or paint to deteriorate and lose its protective properties. This deterioration can then lead to the wooden structure of the door becoming more susceptible to moisture damage and deteriorating at a faster rate.
Doors for built-in closets two available options and alternatives to them
The standard method of closing a closet is typically achieved by installing built-in coupe doors. However, there are alternative options available that offer similar advantages. It’s worth exploring all the possibilities when it comes to door manufacturing in order to find the best fit for your closet. Let’s take a closer look at these options.
- The use of coupe doors in a built-in closet has become popular due to one key advantage – when opened, the doors are pushed aside, posing no obstacles to the movement of people or furniture nearby. This feature allows for a seamless experience for residents. However, there are also some drawbacks to using sliding doors for a built-in closet. For instance, no matter how much effort you exert, it is impossible to fully open the closet, only half is achievable at most. This limitation is mainly dictated by the width of the closet itself – the wider the closet, the more space you can free up by sliding the doors to the sides as far as possible.
- Built-in closets with swinging doors are a traditional choice that is no longer trendy. It’s widely known that one major drawback of these doors is the significant space they require when opening. For instance, if the closet is wedged between two walls, opening swinging doors would undoubtedly pose a problem. Although one could tolerate this inconvenience, why settle when there are superior alternatives available?
- Furniture roller shutters may not be considered traditional doors, but they offer a unique combination of advantages from swinging and sliding doors. They are designed to open without taking up any valuable space in the room, giving full access to the closet. Additionally, they are relatively easy to install, even for those without professional experience. The only downside to this alternative is that the appearance may not appeal to everyone. However, this can easily be remedied by adding a self-adhesive film with a decorative design on the roller shutters.
What is a shutter doors and where they are used
Based on the idea of traditional blinds, the design of louvered doors is similar: the frame is parallel to the frame and slats made of different materials are attached vertically or horizontally at a specific angle. The installation of slats at a certain angle allows for protection from direct sunlight while still allowing for adequate airflow.
Currently, louvered doors are available in a variety of materials. There are metal louvered doors, wooden louvered doors, as well as louvered doors made from various colors of plastic. There are even louvered doors made of plastic that mimic the appearance of wood. Therefore, finding the perfect louvered doors for any interior is easily achievable.

Nowadays, louvered doors have become increasingly popular as interior doors. Moreover, innovative and unique louvered door designs have been created, which serve as grilles for heating radiators.
Additionally, these designs can be used as excellent partitions and screens. However, the most common application of louvered doors is as fronts for furniture cabinets.
Not only can you purchase ready-made louvered doors from stores, but you can also have them custom-made. These doors are perfect for linen cabinets, kitchen furniture, wardrobes, and traditional cabinets. They are also frequently utilized in bathroom furniture.

Louvered doors, with their unique design, make a fantastic addition to the decor of any space. With their easy installation, blinds doors can effortlessly transform any room.
Blinds: which material to choose?
The choice of material for the construction of louvered doors plays a crucial role in determining their overall quality, durability, and cost. It is a common query among individuals to ponder over the installation process of louvered doors and whether it is advisable to undertake the task independently.

If you possess some degree of experience, you may opt to personally undertake the entirety of the task. However, it is undoubtedly preferable to entrust the task to skilled professionals who will complete the work with greater efficiency and swiftness. It is worth mentioning that you have the option to personalize the doors using any material that suits your preference.
Be mindful that wooden louvered doors necessitate more meticulous upkeep, and their cost is significantly higher compared to other types of doors. It is not advised to install these doors in areas with elevated humidity levels, despite their application of lacquer. Louvered doors made from softwood can be utilized in bathrooms.
In contrast, plastic louvered doors are ideal for use in the kitchen and bathroom. They are easy to maintain and impervious to moisture. In terms of aesthetic appeal and uniqueness, plastic doors can rival wooden ones. Typically, expert consultants at the store will provide instructions on the correct installation of louvered doors.

What kind of louvered doors are there?
Currently, numerous manufacturers are involved in the production of this highly sought-after design. Both local and international companies offer a diverse selection of such merchandise. For instance, at Leroy Merlin, customers can find wooden louvered doors of various sizes, purposes, designs, and color schemes. These products possess numerous advantages, including top-notch quality and contemporary designs. Additionally, Leroy Merlin also offers the option to customize louvered wooden doors according to specific requirements.

The addition of Wooden Obi louvered doors to your interior will not only be aesthetically pleasing and practical, but it will also bring a touch of style. These doors can be customized to any color, and their installation is a breeze – as long as you have the proper tools on hand.
Scope of application
The properties of louvered doors determine their sphere of application. They are essential in rooms that require continuous ventilation.
The level of sound insulation should not be a significant factor in these rooms. There are several rooms in our homes and apartments where louvered doors are useful:
- Technical rooms – storerooms, laundry rooms, closets. For dressing rooms, it is worth considering the practicality of this option, as it is desirable to protect clothes from dust. A compromise can be made by incorporating a louvered grille in the upper part, where there is less dust and warmer air accumulates.
- In the bathroom, it is recommended to have louvered doors to quickly remove excess moisture. However, this option is only suitable for separate bathrooms, as combined bathrooms can create unpleasant sounds and odors. Louvered doors are also a great option for ventilating technical rooms without the need for special ducting.
- For boiler rooms facing the street, a louvered grille door can be used. It should be adjustable so that the room doesn’t get too cold in winter. Before installing such doors, it is advisable to consult the local fire department for safety reasons.
In addition to using louvered doors between rooms, they can also be used in furniture. They have the following advantages:
- They can be found in both floor-mounted and wall-mounted cupboards in the kitchen. In the dryer and cereal cupboard, they serve as a source of quick ventilation, while in the others they are mainly decorative.
- In the bathroom, they are used to cover the pipes and create an enclosing structure. They can be hung on hinges or attached with magnets. In bathrooms, toilets, and kitchen cabinets, they can also be used as cabinet doors.
- They can be used as blinds for windows, effectively solving the issue of light diffusion. The light is not completely blocked out, creating a soft, twilight-like ambiance.
- They can be applied to cabinets, dressers, and other furniture pieces in living rooms. The advantages in this case outweigh the disadvantages, and they add an interesting visual element to the overall appearance of the furniture.
Another application area is using louvered doors as shading structures for large areas of glazing. They can be used on terraces, in winter gardens, large balconies, and loggias with solid glazing. What makes louvered doors superior to regular blinds? Well, while stationary doors can be opened, louvered doors can remain closed, allowing for access to fresh air and providing just the right amount of light.

Blinds have the versatility to serve as both a shading system and a room partition, perfectly suited for dividing spaces in a studio apartment. This solution is especially effective when there is a need to separate a sleeping area without a window. By installing blinds as a partition, you can maintain adequate airflow, allow ample natural light to filter through, and ensure privacy.

Dividing blinds to create a distinct sleeping area
Essentially, louvered grids can be repurposed to serve as a bulletin board, a partition, or a screen to enclose or separate spaces.
Advantages and disadvantages

- Jalousie doors can add a unique touch to any interior style, as their unconventional design can enhance the look of any room.
- Most systems come with adjustable slats, allowing you to control the amount of oxygen and light entering the room.
- Repairing louvered doors is easy as you only need to replace individual damaged elements, without having to dismantle the entire system.
- Louvered doors promote natural ventilation by allowing air to circulate, making them particularly suitable for kitchens, storage cabinets, and bathrooms.
However, there are a few drawbacks to consider when using such doors:
- Louvered doors can let in unpleasant or unwanted odors and light.
- The cost of louvered doors cannot be low due to the extensive construction and the use of expensive materials.
- Painting the louver system is a challenging task that requires disassembling the entire structure. Each element needs to be painted and dried thoroughly.
- It is important to consider the low sound insulation of louvered doors when selecting their installation location. They may not be the best choice for a bedroom or children’s room.
